The Poverty Bay junior secondary schools team at the Northern Districts tournament in Whangarei lost their third T20 game but were closer to the opposition yesterday.
Bay captain and opener Nathan Trowell won the toss at Kensington Oval and chose to bat, leading
his team’s scorers with 23 runs from 42 balls in a total of 98-8.
He and Luke Fisher (15) shared a 47-run stand for the first wicket, Poverty Bay’s best partnership of the past two days.
Waikato Valley beat the Bay by eight wickets, reaching 101-2 in 11.4 overs.
