For the first time in many years, the women defeated the men in Poverty Bay Bowling Club’s closing day competition on Saturday.
A good turnout of 18 women and 18 men took part, with the women winning 31 points to 24.
Three one-hour games of triples were played, with players
rotating so each person played lead, director and skip.
The tournament controllers were David and Leslie Holmes, who are retiring from this role after seven years of incredible service to the club.
They organised the certificates and bars that club president Jon Davies presented to 2019-20 club championship winners and runners-up following the competition.
