What better way to spend the Labour Day holiday afternoon in summer-like conditions, than to play bowls in the Stonehaven Memorials Owen Shield single-entry triples tournament.

Kevin Bright presented the prizes and the Owen Shield on the sponsor’s behalf.

Twelve teams each played three games of 65 minutes, with ends won and points determining the placegetters.

It was a treat to have the club’s new timer in use. Players could easily see the clock count down and could clearly hear the time-limit siren.

Besides two lucky draws from non-placegetters, prizes went down to fourth.

In first place were Dayvinia Mills (skip), Noel Dunn (two) and Alic Brown (lead) with two wins and a draw, 13 ends won and a plus-11 differential.

Second were Bruce Ball (s), Allan Parker and Marty Ryan with two wins, a draw, 11 ends won and a plus-11 differential.

Third were Gary Tocker (s), Ray Young and Otto Louw with two wins and a draw, 11 ends won and a plus-6 differential.

Fourth were Kevin Bright (s), Bruce Gledhill and Norm Young with two wins and 12 ends won.

: October 31-November 1, club championship fours.
