GISBORNE women and men took up arms up in a national arm wrestling competition held at the Jolly Stockman on Saturday afternoon.
STRONG-ARMED WOMEN: Gisborne women cleaned up in a national arm wrestling competition held at the Jolly Stockman on Saturday afternoon, and Gisborne’s arm wrestling champion John Leach also won gold. Competing in one of the early heats, Gisborne’s Ngari Barbarich (left) and Tracy Barbarich were star attractions. Tracy eventually took first place in the right-handed section, and Ngari came second. Char Clark was third. Ngari was first in the left-handed section, with Tracy second and Diana Tahere third. Eleven women and 19 men from all over the North Island took part.
