The long-course swim meet at the new Kiwa Pools at the weekend has been hailed a success.

It produced qualifying times for national meets, as swimmers from Hawke’s Bay, Bay of Plenty and as far afield as Auckland competed against those from Gisborne’s Comet club and Enterprise Cars Swim Team.

“It was great to have a long-course meet here,” Comet head coach Glenn Hamblyn said.

“It was a great weekend. Thanks to all volunteers, especially the crew who ran the timing system/scoreboard, and to Hawke’s Bay/Poverty Bay swimming for organising the event.”

Angus Blair and Mako Fukushima-Hall were Comet’s standouts, collecting a stack of first placings in their age groups across various strokes and distances.
