AMERICAN women’s pitcher Alyson Spinas-Valainis will hold two pitching and catching clinics in Gisborne tomorrow at Barry Park.
The first for age-group representative pitchers and catchers and coaches, will be from 2pm to 3.30pm, and the second, for rep and senior coaches, will run from 5.30pm to 7pm.
Spinas-Valainis plays
for Hutt Valley Saints and also works as a development coach for the club. Former New Zealand women’s softball coach Naomi Shaw describes her as a “world class player and person”.
Spinas-Valainis has played NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division 1 softball for Bradley University in Illinois and was named Bradley Softball 2015 Most Valuable Player.
“She is an excellent pitcher and hitter, and, as importantly, her people skills are outstanding,” Shaw said.
