Summer must be on the way.

Preparations have begun for the second Gizzy Movember Friendly charity mini cricket tournament.

The tournament will be held at Harry Barker Reserve on November 21.

Last season's inaugural match raised over $3000 for the Movember Foundation, which raises awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and suicide.

Organiser Tyler Phelps says it's about friends, “whether they be ones you make on the day, had before the day, or ones that you have lost previously”.

“It's about cheering the person next to you and being open enough to ask how they feel and why they feel that way,” he said.

“There will be beers and other beverages, a barbecue and the company of your mates on a nice summer's day.

“We'd love for you to bring along family and friends to the event — the more the merrier.”

Phelps was delighted with how last year's tournament ran, even though some of the weather was disappointing.

“Last year's event was made possible through many generous contributions, and allowed us to raise $3577 for the Movember Foundation,” he said.

“That smashed our target of $3000 and we just missed the top-20 leader board in New Zealand. This year we want to go bigger.”

This year his target is to continue the momentum from last year to raise awareness for the Movember Foundation, create a fun day, and raise over $5000.

The tournament is expected to consist of four teams playing 10-over matches.
