Ilminster Intermediate student Aidan Hailes added to Gisborne’s history of success in winning the indoor bowls singles title at the AIMS Games this week.
Aidan defeated Otumoetai Intermediate student Jake Stott 7-3, 7-2 in the gold medal playoff.
Another Ilminster student, Latoya Semmens, lost 4-5, 7-4, 3-8 in the playoff
for bronze.
Two other Ilminster players made the top 16. Tawhai Moran-Tumene was knocked out in the quarterfinals. Alex Shanks was beaten in the first round of the last 16.
The title was won by Gisborne Intermediate student Dylan Foster last year.
