A small group of Gisborne competitors enjoyed success at the National Showing Champs in Hastings.

Sam Brooks — the only Gisborne boy to compete — Olivia Briant in only her third show, Harriet Savage in her last year on ponies, Briar Herries and owner/exhibitor Lily Moss picked up multiple placings and champion honours.

Sarah Gault and the Shirle Collie-owed Ultra Velvet continued their fine form at the Paeroa A and P Show.

The Gisborne riders were out to continue their success at the Wairoa A&P Show. Equestrian events at the Show started yesterday.

3rd in newcomer saddle hunter pony up to 138cm; 2nd in novice saddle hunter pony not exeeding 128cm, 0-2 wins; 1st in novice saddle hunter pony not exceeding 128cm, 0-5 wins; Champion Novice Saddle Hunter Pony not exceeding 128cm; 1st in novice paced and mannered saddle hunter pony not exceeding 128cm; 3rd in open saddle hunter pony not exceeding 123cm; 4th in open paced and mannered saddle hunter pony not exceeding 128cm; 5th in national saddle hunter pony up to 128cm.

1st in open paced and mannered show pony over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; 3rd in open show pony over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; 3rd in national show pony title class over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; 2nd in show pony mare (shown in hand) under 148cm; 3rd in show pony best movement (shown in hand); 5th in led turnout championship 13-16 years.

1st in novice paced and mannered saddle hunter pony 0-5 over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; 2nd in open saddle hunter pony over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; Reserve Champion Saddle Hunter Pony over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; 1st in open paced and mannered saddle hunter pony over 138cm and not exceeding 148cm; National Champion Paced and Mannered Saddle Hunter Pony.

2nd in best presented pure or part-bred Welsh; 4th in section A adult purebred; 3rd in ridden lead rein Welsh pony; 2nd in lead rein unity; 1st in novice lead rein pony; 4th in open lead rein pony up to 123cm; 5th in open paced and mannered; 3rd in lead rein rider 4 and 5yrs.

Champion Novice Show Pony over 128cm and not exceeding 138cm; 1st in novice show pony, 0-2 wins, over 128cm and not exceeding 138cm; 2nd in Novice Paced & Mannered Show Pony over 128cm and not exceeding 138cm; 3rd in Open Show Pony National Title over 128cm and not exceeding 138cm.

Champion Partbred Welsh; Reserve Champion Youngstock Show Pony.

1st in concors d'elegance; 1st in best side saddle rider; 1st in best side saddle horse; 2nd in best presented; 3rd in paced and mannered; overall Side Saddle Champion.

Also winner of all side saddle classes and champion at Waikato A&P Show in November and Te Kauwhata A&P Show in December).
