The call has gone out for members of the past and present to celebrate YMP Hockey Club’s 100th anniversary.

The club — which started out as Manutuke following a meeting in May of 1923 before changing to YMP when it merged with YMP rugby club —  has three major events to mark the milestone.

One of those has already been held — a Whānau Day on April 23.

The next is a formal dinner “to acknowledge and celebrate the past, present and future of our club” to be held over Matariki holiday weekend. The dinner is on Saturday, July 15 .

Registrations for the dinner and inquiries can be made via email — ymphockeyclub@gmail.com — or by phoning  Lynne Holmberg (021-243-1348) or Kristi Brown (021-138-4522).

Holmberg said the invitation was extended to all interested people, and they were keen to hear from those who had been a part of the club over the decades.

Information is also available on the YMP Hockey Club Facebook page.

A third event — a Friday whānau dinner, Saturday breakfast and after-function — is to be held over the weekend (August 18-20) of Poverty Bay Hockey’s club finals.
