Work under way on landslide-stricken Waihau Road

Contractors have started work on the temporary road on Waihau Road to Loisels, which has been closed since the June rain event.
A major landslide washed out part of the road at the four-kilometre mark.
Since then, residents have had walking access only past the dropout.
“The first step was
to create a dump site for the material from the slip face,” a Gisborne District Council spokesperson said.
“Work’s expected to take several weeks to complete, weather dependent.
