Wiping of points unfair

Ten games played, 10 wins, 30 points disappear. This is totally unfair Central Football.

The top grade of local senior men’s football was divided into two groups on Saturday and points from the previous 10 games were wiped.

United won all their games, a great achievement — only letting in six goals.

What was the point in playing these games?

So if points are wiped, shouldn’t fines be wiped also?

They kept the points last year, so why the change?

The Hawke’s Bay league has larger numbers but they keep their points from earlier in the year and are not divided.

Get your act together Central Football and give all teams their well-deserved points back.

Footnote response from Central Football chief operations manager Donald Piper:

Our preference would have been to carry the points over, however this was against popular belief of what had been discussed in late March at the senior clubs’ meeting. Therefore we put two options to the clubs and allowed a majority vote decision. United was among the clubs that voted to wipe points — I suggest this may not have been communicated to their supporters.
