A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

It’s 250 days since a #newsroom expose on the National Party’s #BarbaraKuriger. Since then, media have mostly been silent and in the meagre one or two articles, have called her only an “embattled” MP.

Even knowing about the misuse of her MP email account, and her claim of political interference when an investigation found none, it’s 122 days since she was reselected as #nznationalparty candidate for the safe seat of Taranaki King Country.

Her husband and son were charged with animal cruelty after several cattle beasts were euthanased due to injuries caused by gross neglect on the family farms Oxbow Farms Ltd. Her son was convicted.

The investigation into animal abuse was not political interference and instead a serious investigation resulting in a conviction.

Kuriger’s 50-plus work emails to the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) were a vindictive conflict of interest, bullying and abusive of her Parliamentary position.

If the Nats had been in government, she would have been the Minister — thank goodness she wasn’t.

She also demanded that an MPI official should be sacked.

It’s not OK for an MP to abuse their position, bully MPI and then stay at the trough — or for media to ignore it for all of this time.

I believe that no Labour or Green MPs have done anything as bad or had such serious conflicts of interest. Yet several have been media fodder for months.

#chrisluxonmp chooses to ignore the damning report exposing her disgusting behaviour — which is available online — and he isn’t being challenged about this.

We should ask why. Where is the integrity?

The report about Oxbow Farms v MPI is readily found. See also: www.newsroom.co.nz/mps-emails-show-pattern-of-personal-attacks-on-ministry?amp=1&_gsa=1&_js_
