Friday, February 7

Fiesta Friday. Hosted by Papas Tapas, the fiesta will feature DJs and giveaways. Next to the tennis courts at Waikanae Beach, end of Grey St, from 4 to 8pm.

Friday Night Lorcana and Board Games Night. Artemis Games in Treble Court [next to McDonald’s] is hosting a session of the card-based game Lorcana [from 5 to 9pm] – which it says is easy to learn and fun for newbies and families – along with board games [from 6 to 10pm]. Small entry fee.

Beach House Beats. Johnny Roy and XONE add high-energy drums and beats to classic pop songs you can sing and dance along to. From 8pm at Smash Palace Bar, 24 Banks St.

Saturday, February 8

The Big Blues Up. This year marks 10 years of The Big Blues Up at Smash Palace with four of Gisborne’s finest acts taking the Smash stage. From 6 to 11.50pm at Smash Palace Bar, 34 Banks St.

Sunday, February 9

Find & Go Seek Group Challenge. A fun activity at Eastwoodhill Arboretum which requires groups to use a map to find features of the arboretum and jot down answers to questions. From 10am to 3.30pm at 2392 Wharekopae Rd, Ngatapa.

Tuesday, February 11

Out of the Darkness. Exhibition of youth perspectives on Tairāwhiti in a changing climate, collaborated by photographer Josie McClutchie and sociologist Holly Thorpe. From 5.30 to 6.30pm at Midway Surf Rescue Community Hub conference venue.

Saturday, February 15
