Gisborne District Council has dropped all water restrictions.

“It’s been a tremendous effort to get to this point and we would like to thank you all for playing your part,” a GDC statement said on Facebook.

“We encourage you to continue to conserve water at all times and protect this precious resource.

“As in all our previous updates, our water complies with the NZ drinking water standards and is safe to drink.”

Level 4 Water restrictions (a ban on all outdoor use) were put in place after Cyclone Gabrielle in February, and were reduced to Level 3 (no sprinkler use) in April.
