Veteran triallist Barney Strong from Taupo headed home the field in the final runoff for the Charity sheep dog trial championships at the Gisborne Riding Club for the Disabled on Saturday morning.

The finalists were Merv Utting with Guy and Steel, Barney Strong and Trixie, John Foss and Bindi, Bruce Ireland and Loch, Christian Nielson and Pal, Samantha Shaw and Zoe, Bernard Arends and Birch, Howard Ingles and Lou, Rod Mead with Flame, and Jim Wilson with Jude and Flynn. Bo Milner was the judge and Donna Milner was his assistant.
