Two people were killed and four people injured in a crash near Gisborne overnight.

Police said emergency services responded to the single-vehicle crash on Tucker Rd about 11.40pm.

Two people were found dead on arrival. Two people were taken to hospital in a critical condition, and two others were moderately injured.

“Our thoughts are with their families and friends at this difficult time,” police said.

“The Serious Crash Unit have conducted a scene examination, and the road has reopened.”
