The project has been described as the biggest infrastructure upgrade at the port in 100 years.
It was completed this month.
Meanwhile, Eastland Port handled 257,000 tonnes of timber exported on board 10 ships in February.
“March is shaping up to be a strong month so we are hoping the weather will play ball,” a port spokeswoman said.
“The first kiwifruit ship of the season, one of six planned, is scheduled to arrive on the 19th, with two more expected later in March.
“With log and kiwifruit exports ramping up, it’s shaping up to be a busy March at the port – a great way to end our financial year.”
