Triple blow for Kaiti Hub as it loses pharmacy, NZ Post, and Kiwibank

Banking, post and pharmacy services are soon to be lost from Kaiti Hub.

A statement from Kiwibank said the decision for Kaiti Mall Pharmacy to relocate means the Kiwibank banking services it hosts will also need to find a new location.

“Kiwibank is looking for a replacement host site and will provide an update on this as soon as possible. Kiwibank does not have a stand-alone branch in Gisborne.”

Kiwibank closed its Gisborne branch in June 2021 despite submissions from the region, including a personal appeal from Mayor Rehette Stoltz, objecting to the closure.

NZ Post services will relocate to Paper Plus Gisborne in the city centre.

The last day of operation for Kiwibank and NZ Post from the current site will be February 29.

Kaiti Mall Pharmacy has been owned by Sean Shivnan  for the past nine years.

“The sustainability of the pharmacy business and the need to commit to new lease terms with the landlord, NZ Post and Kiwibank meant I had to make the difficult decision that no business owner wants to make,” Mr Shivnan said.

“All prescription records have been transferred to Sean Shivnan Pharmacy.

“We are asking customers to ask their medical centre to email their prescriptions to us to keep up the continuity of their patient records.

“Sean Shivnan Pharmacy are offering to deliver patients  their medications when they are unable to get into Sean Shivnan Pharmacy,” Mr Shivnan said.

“Our opening hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12.30pm on Saturday.”
