National Party East Coast electorate spokeswoman Tania Tapsell says yesterday's Budget “lacks ambition”, and should have focused on getting back to a surplus.
“It's unbelievable that the debt of our country will now increase to $184 billion under this government — that's more than $100,000 for every household,” she said.
“Despite their promises the facts are clear that child poverty, housing, and even climate change have become worse under Labour.
“The Budget documents acknowledge that economic conditions have also gotten worse, particularly rent and unemployment.
“It will also come as cold comfort to people suffering in this housing shortage that the Government isn't intending to fix the Resource Management Act until 2024.
