Please, District Council, if you must go ahead with “cycle city”, talk to people with disabilities about making our city more accessible.

Yes, experts are great, but the best people to ask are those who live with disabilities in our community.

Let’s not repeat slippery tiles or kerbs on too steep a gradient for scooters or wheelchairs. Let’s have road crossings that are wide enough and at regular spaces, so getting to them doesn’t tire our residents.

If our city is accessible to those with disabilities, it becomes accessible for ALL.
