One more Tairāwhiti death from Covid-19 has been recorded, taking the region’s death tally to 42.
Health NZ/Te Whatu Ora figures for the week ending at midnight on Sunday show 26 deaths, but none from Tairāwhiti, meaning the latest recorded death occurred in a previous week.
There are 62 activecases in the region, down from 68 last week, making for a total of 26,182 Tairāwhiti cases.
Active cases across the country number 5752 while the total number since the outbreak began in early 2020 is 2,574,813.
As at midnight on Sunday, 255 patients were in hospitals with Covid-19.
Of the 26 people whose deaths were reported in the week to Sunday, one was from Northland, 13 from Auckland, five from Waikato and one each from Tauranga,Taranaki, MidCentral, Wellington, Canterbury, South Canterbury and Southern. One was in their 40s, one in their 50s, one in their 60s, seven in their 70s, nine in their 80s and seven over 90.
