Firefighters were called to a property at the western end of Stout Street in the early hours of yesterday after a car caught fire under suspicious circumstances.

The call came in just after 4am.

“The car was well alight when we arrived and was burnt out,” a senior firefighter said.

The property was near the Buchanan Street corner.

“The fire cause was suspicious.”

Police were called and they have an inquiry under way.
