I read in Saturday night’s paper (in a letter to the editor) that I am not the only one who is appalled at the service at the local VTNZ vehicle testing station.
I had the unfortunate need to take my daughter’s car back through for a recheck on Friday, April 14 to check that two rear suspension bushes and a windscreen washer jet had been repaired. I arrived at 10.58am and was the sixth vehicle in the LH lane. There were only two in the RH lane.
Well, I finally drove out with my new WOF at 1.10pm. When I spoke to the lovely lady in the lanes (the only staff member who was moving at a normal pace) and told her I was most disgusted with the service, she informed me that they couldn’t get staff.
I told her that when GDC were operating it, they had a recheck lane and when it was empty they would direct cars for a full WOF into it.
Having been in business myself for 50-odd years, my observation is that there is no system there and the pace of most of the five or so staff was too slow. If they need more staff, they should visit Dunblane or Beetham — at least they come with their own walkers. Cars that had arrived well after myself and the lady in front of me were tested and sent on their way long before us.
