Strong month for the port

Eastland Port is well on the way to achieving 270,000 tonnes of log exports for June, with seven shipments already gone and six set to go before the end of the month.

To date 155,000 tonnes of logs have been loaded on ships bound for China.

“June is looking like a good month for the port,” a port spokeswoman said.

“Cart-in numbers to the storage areas have been strong too.”

The port expected another steady throughput of log exports in June after a strong May.

The T.S. Jasmine completed loading and sailed yesterday afternoon.

Her place at the wharf was taken by the Ken Hope (pictured), which will be loaded through tonight, sailing early tomorrow morning.

The Cactus K, Daiwan Kalon, SBI Maia, Remy Enterprise and Global Heart will follow over the rest of the month.

Two log ships are already booked for early July.
