There were 1833 sheep sent for sale yesterday at the Matawhero Saleyards, including 1332 store lambs, most of which came from Tarere 2 Trust at Te Araroa and CNA and JM Marr at Te Wera.

Prices paid for the store lambs eased slightly on last week; the best price was $88 for 66 male lambs from Tarere 2 Trust.

CNA and JM Marr were paid the highest price for store ewe lambs, receiving $80.50 for a pen of 92.

The prime sheep continue to be sold at recent levels, with W and KJ Waite selling three lambs for $122 and the Hassendean P/S selling 13 prime ewes for $69.

Demand for the older store sheep is very limited, with light store ewes selling from $49 down to $20.50.
