Opinion

I have been frustrated for years with a Gisborne radio station continually calling the A&P Show, the AMP Show. The A and P stands for the Agricultural and Pastoral Show.

Our radio station has given AMP countless hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars of free advertising at this time of the year for the past four to six years and have never instructed their broadcaster to announce the event as the A&P Show, not the AMP Show.

Is it that difficult to pronounce the title of our Show correctly?

This may sound like a pathetic moan, but our language is being abused day after day. Please get it right. Put the “and” in.
