Contractors involved in the latest clean-up of driftwood debris on the city beaches — Siteworx Civil — have made steady progress this week.

The areas in front of Waikanae and Midway surf clubs were cleared first prior to last weekend so the clubs could operate their patrols.

“We’re making good progress,” a company spokesman said. “If the rain stops, we’ll make even better progress.”

Two diggers and a few trucks have been working on it. They aim to be completed in time for Christmas and the start of the peak holiday season.
