State Highway 2 near Gisborne is closed after a serious crash in Ormond on Friday afternoon.

Police responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash near Hatten Lane about 1.10pm.

Police said the road was closed while the Serious Crash Unit examined the scene.

“Southbound traffic has diversions, however, it is not suitable for large trucks,” police said.

“There are no diversions for northbound traffic. Motorists are advised to avoid the area, use alternate routes and expect delays.”
