Speed reduction for heavy vehicles on Manganuku Bridge

A speed restriction for heavy vehicles on the Manganuku Bridge on State Highway 2 in the Waioeka Gorge has been put in place until further notice.

The speed limit for heavy vehicles has been dropped to 30 kilometres an hour and must be adhered to, a Waka Kotahi New Zealand Transport Agency spokesman said.

“Those heavy vehicles travelling at higher speeds will exert greater loads on the structure, which pose a significant risk.”
