THE staff at Specsavers are supporting their Gisborne community by backing the Kids off the Kerb recycling project.
Dispensing partner Bridgette Donnell said staff had recently received new uniforms and decided to donate their old uniforms to Kids off the Kerb. The charitable organisation shreds and reuses uniforms gathered from
all over New Zealand and Australia.
The clothes can be used as filler for punching bags.
In other cases, logos are removed or covered and the uniforms are reused and redistributed to disadvantaged groups. Ms Donnell said staff insisted their old uniforms remain in Gisborne to assist local residents in need.
She said Specsavers wanted to support the community and be a good corporate citizen.
