A disabled truck was towed to Gisborne for repairs on Thursday night after a small electrical fire started under the cab of the transporter on Traffords HIll on State Highway 2.

Gisborne Hiabs were called to the scene to recover the damaged vehicle.

The disabled truck blocked one lane of the highway on the northern side of the hill until the scene was cleared.

The transporter had been coming up out of the gorge when it happened.
