Opinion

Found on Gisborne street, sadly run over, six military service medals — three regular size and three miniatures. They were cased and the name on the rim is Baker, NZ Army. One is a Malayan service medal, so possibly from the 1960s. Two are damaged, with the medal having broken off the clasp.

The medals will be forwarded to police, but being from  the military myself I want to ensure they go back to the right home — can anyone out there solve the mystery?

Ex Navy Man

Footnote: With some very skillful detective work I was able to find the medal owner’s son and return them. Alas they were a bit worse for wear and, yes, they had been taken from the property and discarded on to the road — where some were run over.
