The Poverty Bay A&P Show started this morning for competitors in the Tux Yarding Challenge.

There will be up to 250 runs, culminating in a 15-dog final on Saturday morning.

“We hope to get through more than 75 runs today,” said head steward Rod Mead.

“The sheep started off a little bit jumpy in the cooler conditions but they should settle down once the day warms up.”

Sheena Martin, from Wairoa, will judge the competition this year, the first woman to judge the Gisborne Show competition.
