“This overnight work remains weather dependent and we advise all road users to regularly check our interactive Journey Planner for up to date, daily information.
“If wet weather delays work at any stage, the road will be open that night.
NZTA system manager for Hawke’s Bay/Tairāwhiti Martin Colditz said crews had been busy resurfacing SH2 north and south of Gisborne.
“We realise the disruption this is causing, but the resurfacing work will ultimately result in a longer-lasting, more resilient stretch of road.”
Meanwhile, repair work will begin further south on Mangaturanga Bridge at Raupunga to enable crews to repair the bridge deck.
The four nights of closures will begin on Monday, February 26, and work is scheduled to be completed by Friday, March 1, at 5am.
The work will be carried out each night between 9pm and 5am.
