A WOMAN visiting this district was sexually assaulted by two men on the Gisborne beachfront west of Stanley Road last night. Police have appealed for information from the public.
“The woman, who is in her 30s, was attacked in the dunes near the beach about 200 metres west of theMidway Surf Club,” said Detective Sergeant Kevin Ford.
He said two men were involved and the woman was both sexually assaulted and assaulted by them.
She was found in a distressed state by someone walking on the beach.
“That person took the woman to the Gisborne police station and medical help was organised for her at a local doctor’s surgery,” Det Sgt Ford said.
