Seven reserves around the region remain closed following the damage caused by Cyclone Gabrielle in February.

Gisborne District Council has confirmed Doneraille Park, De Costa Park, the small reserve at the junction of Fitzherbert Street and Clifford Street,  Turanga Gardens, Rere Falls and Rere Rockslide are closed.

Anzac Park will be closed until the end of June.

The Botanical Gardens Playground is closed. Softfall matting has been re-ordered, however, it is not expected to arrive until mid-June.

Titirangi/Kaiti Hill also has some tracks that are still closed.

“Work has started to clear these sites of woody debris and silt, so grass can be resown, and in some cases, the land made more stable.

“Heavy machinery will be used so these parks and reserves remain closed until work is complete,” a council statement said.
