A SEED exchange in Manutuke tomorrow is designed to get more people in Gisborne to grow their own food.
The Manutuke Community Garden group is hosting the event and invites anybody to come along, exchange seeds, meet other like-minded people, share ideas and stories, and help build a network of
“seed exchange entrepreneurs”.
“The seed exchange is part of an initiative to get more people in the Gisborne region to grow their own food,” Eastern Institute of Technology Tairawhiti horticulture tutor Soraya Pohatu, who works with the Manutuke Community Garden group, said.
“We want more families to get into growing, and saving their seeds to share.”
Local garden groups, EIT’s horticulture department and Bunnings Gisborne will be providing seeds and seedlings, with volunteers from these groups helping out on the day.
