Roberts Tree Surgeons have joined in the effort to restore the Waikanae Stream by planting 100 plants, including kowhai, manuka and harakeke, along the stream bank.
Marketing manager Josie Ovenden said the company wanted to contribute to the environment and thought that streamside planting was a good way to improve
the habitat conditions and water quality.
“The degradation of the Waikanae Stream which passes through Gisborne's industrial area continues to weigh on our minds. As a local business, we are trying our best to do our bit and contribute to the restoration project.”
The native plants were donated by Women's Native Tree Project Trust.
