GISBORNE district councillors have farewelled another retiring councillor, Karen Fenn.

At the last full council meeting before the election last week, Graeme Thomson and Brian Wilson, both elected to council in 2011, were farewelled.

Mrs Fenn could not make the council meeting, but was farewelled at the final community services and development committee meeting.

Committee chairman Andy Cranston said he was sorry to lose her.

Mrs Fenn thanked council staff and councillors.

She said she had enjoyed her three years on council and her part in community decision-making.

Becoming a councillor was daunting at first.

She was sad to leave, but had decided to do something else.
