The New Zealand Transport Agency  Waka Kotahi is urging motorists to respect roadworkers this summer.

“Every day roadworkers receive abuse from people passing through their worksites. That’s not acceptable,” an NZTA satement said.

“Be patient when you’re travelling through roadworks.

“Roadworkers are out there making the roads better and safer this summer. Summer is the best time for maintenance such as road resurfacing, because the warmer and drier weather helps new seal stick to the road surface.

“Respect roadworkers and travel safely through their worksites. Stick to the posted speed limit, drive carefully, and follow signage and any instructions you receive.”
