Hangaroa, Tiniroto and Ruakituri residents impacted by the closure of Tiniroto Road at the Hangaroa Bluffs after Cyclone Gabrielle will meet Gisborne District Council staff and councillors today from 4pm in the Tiniroto Hall.

One of the residents called The Herald to say “we have been told we will get some answers to our ongoing concerns”.

The council put concrete blocks in place in an effort to stop locals using the road beneath the bluffs, which were closed after geotech engineers found tension cracks in the bluff face and declared that section of the road unsafe.

Locals have had to use either the Parikanapa Road or travel via Wairoa to get to Gisborne, and they have been increasingly frustrated about it.
