The $500,000 Lotto prize struck by a Gisborne ticket in last weekend’s draw was claimed at the Ballance Street Bookshop on Wednesday, much to the delight of the winners and shop staff.

The Gisborne ticket, sold at the bookshop, shared the First Division prize with a ticket winner from Christchurch.

“It was won by a local person, one of our regular customers,” said a Ballance Street Bookshop spokesman.

“The winners told us they were still a bit uncertain about they were going to do with their windfall.

“They were very calm about it,” he said.
