More than half of the respondents to this week's Herald web poll support the Government's decision to move to a red traffic light setting.

The question was: “Do you agree with the Government's move to a red traffic light setting?”

From a total of 347 votes, 55.33 percent (192 votes) voted “yes”, 40.63 percent (141) “no”, and 4 percent (14 people) “don't know”.

One “yes” voter said the move was “better than no restrictions”.

Another said “until we know more about Covid and Omicron, best we exercise collective responsibility taking into account the best scientific information we have at present.

“It's not the time to claim selfish ‘individual rights' and ‘individual freedoms'. It is the time to protect the most vulnerable,” they said.

One “yes” voter said in their opinion “borders should have been closed to stop the flow of returning people who say they haven't got the Covid-19 virus but actually do”.

A “no” voter disagreed and said “we should not be in red. We've vaccinated, on waitlist for boosters and our small businesses and creative arts people need a reprieve. Not to mention we need to have some fun!”

Another “No” voter said “the settings are not clear and many people put their own take on what it means”.

A respondent who voted “don't know” said that we “should be in total lockdown”.
