Hamish McKay is to emcee the Kia Kaha Tairāwhiti event.

Hear4U have what they have billed as a ‘Kia Kaha Tairawhiti’ event planned for early next month that will address wellbeing, mental health and resilience post-Cyclone Gabrielle.

The Hear4U Charitable Trust has been funded by the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to run it on July 2 at the War Memorial Theatre.

“We know it’s been a really tough time and our hearts and thoughts are with everyone impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle,” said Hear4U general manager Krissy Mackintosh.

“This event is designed to help our community recover, rebuild, and reset.

“It’s going to be a huge team effort, and it will be free to attend thanks to our incredible sponsors at MPI.”

Mrs Macintosh said it would be an opportunity not to be missed.

“Our good friend Hamish McKay is going to be an epic MC too.”

“They are two of the best speakers you will ever hear,” Mrs Mackintosh said.

“Both Lucy and Denise will provide insight, light-hearted humour, supported through science and practice.

“Our community has been significantly rattled over the last three years, due to natural disasters, and Covid  — and now a recession.

“As a mental health advocate, I believe we need to equip our community with pathways which enable individuals to build resilience, and provide ongoing support and education around grief, and trauma.

“United we can rebuild, through engagement, and inspiration.”

Catering will be provided.

“Tickets are available now on Humanitix.”
