Eastland Port had a quieter month in October with only six ships calling in to export 165,000 tonnes of logs from the region.

A port spokeswoman said the number of ships calling reflected the weather experienced last month.

“So we are looking forward to more settled weather as we move into the warmer months.

“This month we expect 11 log ships and four cruise ships to come calling,” she said.

“Our team have been all hands on deck preparing for the cruise ship season and we are excited about the first one berthing at Wharf 7 in a number of years due to Covid, and the rebuild of the wharf,” she said.

The National Geographic Orion will start the hectic cruise season off when it berths on Monday, November 13, at around 8am.

“This cruise season we are expecting 25 ships to call ,with nine of them berthing at Wharf 7.”
