There was another large number of store lambs at yesterday’s Matawhero sale, comprising 1476 male lambs and 2212 ewe lambs.

Prices rose, especially for the larger male lambs.

The average price paid rose $10 to $129.

There was a very even line-up of medium-sized ewe lambs, and most lambs were sold to local farmers.

The best price of $155.50 for the male lambs went to Eastland Farms Ltd — Strathblane Station for a pen of 96.

The highest price of $140.50 for the ewe lambs was shared between Matuku Trust and MW and AM Flood, both at Kanakanaia.

Any lambs that fetched below $100 were very small.
