Fairview from Auckland dominated round two of the New Zealand Offshore Power Boat championships on Poverty Bay on Saturday, an event that again drew many hundreds of spectators to the city foreshore.
The 1050 horses the 34 foot craft had driving her across The Bay created a 200m trail of flying spray in its wake as it lapped most of the other 13 starters in the two races.
Fairview was untouchable in winning the 100 nautical mile race and the Superboat 1000 class in the McCann’ics ENZED Thunder Out East event.
The overall winner’s main rival Outboard Pro from Whangarei was unfortunately unable to race due to mechanical issues.
The 600 Class was won by Rainbow Haulage ahead of Expresso Engineers and the 400 class by BC Racing ahead of Hi Jinx.
