A109 Light Utility Helicopter flight with mayor Gisborne City from the air in November 2023.

A fault with 50kV powerlines in Stanley Road near Lyndhurst Street cut power to just under 7300 consumers in Gisborne city on Saturday afternoon.

It happened at around 1.40pm.

A crew from Fire and Emergency NZ stood by at the scene.

“A third of customers had their power restored within 17 minutes, and the remainder had their power back on within 32 minutes,” a FirstLight Network spokeswoman said.

“There were no further issues.”
