Police searching for occupants after stolen car crashes at Makauri

Police are still searching for the occupants of a stolen car that crashed on Back Ormond Rd in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The crash happened near the Glenelg Rd corner on Back Ormond Rd at around 1.40am that morning.

“The car hit a roadside barrier, and narrowly missed power lines before coming to rest in a ditch,” an emergency services spokesman said.

“There was no one with the car when we arrived.”

Police have confirmed the car was unlawfully taken.

“It doesn’t look like there were any injuries,” police said.

“The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene on foot.”

The vehicle had been reported as stolen, and police inquiries were ongoing to locate the occupants.

Police have completed a forensic examination.
